One of the requirements in my state is that we complete a summary of our children’s school related accomplishments. I have used this requirement to motivate me to make somewhat of a keepsake for my boys each year. This is my 4th grader’s Year In Review..
Thomas loves to play the guitar and ride his bike. He had a Beyblade birthday party for his 10thbirthday. We went to Disney World in Orlando for the first time this year! We also went to West Virginia to visit his Great Grandma Jenkins (Gramcracker) and to Mistletoe State Park (Augusta, GA) to visit with Great Granny Ruth and Papa Clayton.
Bible: Various devotionals and Bible studies throughout the year including Christian Liberty Press’ Studying God’s Word Book E, A Chronological Study of the Old Testament from Genesis to Ruth.
Math: Abeka 4
Language Arts: Grammar and Reading: Abeka
Spelling: A mix of Abeka 4, Easy School 4th grade, and CLP Building Spelling Skills 4
Handwriting: Handwriting without Tears Cursive 3rd and 4th grade books
Social Studies: Simple Schooling First Course in American History
Science: Apologia Zoology 1: Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day and Lapbook/Notebook, Placed 2nd in his age group for his science fair project on High Performance Paper Gliders (Aerodynamics).
Art: Meet the Masters Track A, Chalk Pastels (tutorials from Hodgepodge blog)
Music: Weekly guitar lessons with Paige Garwood. 3rd– 5th Grade Children’s Choir at FBCPS including 2 choir concerts, one at Christmas and one in the Spring where he was awarded a trophy for learning his Hymns. Children’s Hand bell Choir at FBCPS. He was in a musical at Christmas and led the morning worship with the Treehouse Singers.
PE/Health: Park Days with home school group. He is an avid bike rider, riding 20+ miles, 1-2 per week on the Silver Comet Trail in Paulding County. Played baseball in the fall and spring at PSYB League. Attended Surge Camp at West Ridge Church where he took a martial arts class followed by 2 weeks of martial arts at Breakthrough Martial Arts in Hiram. Attended Upwards basketball camp at FBCPS.
Field Trips and other fun events:
Funk Heritage Museum, Rolater Park (Cave Spring, GA), Bio Bus, Bethlehem Walk, Ringling Bros. Circus, Zoo Atlanta, Braves Game, Six Flags, Stone Mountain, Kennesaw Mountain, Sweetwater Creek State Park, Papa John’s Pizza, and Bumblebee Bakery.
FBCPS Family Mission Trip in Anniston, AL.
Attended VBS this summer at FBCPS. The theme was Colossal Coaster World.
